Natural Scouring Powder Recipe

Hi, everyone! Since discontinuing our [Terra]cotta Paste household cleaning products, I've decided to share the recipes with you!

This is the recipe for our "Soda Shake - Scrubbing Powder".

The Recipe:

This makes about two and a half 16 oz shaker jars (40 oz total), so you may need to adjust the recipe to fit in your container. Alternatively, double or triple the recipe to make a large amount at once and re-fill a smaller container as needed.

• 3 cups Baking Soda

• 1 1/2 cups Washing Soda

• 3/4 cup Table Salt

• 3/4 cup Borax

• 1/2 cup Diatomaceous Earth (optional, but it absorbs liquid to prevent caking/clumping)

The Method:

Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl and transfer to your preferred container. Large spice shakers work well for this.

Use It:

This scrub has a variety of uses. My favourites are baked on pots & pans and the stovetop. Should not be used on acrylic or other surfaces that scratch easily.

• Bathroom - Great for scrubbing gunk and stains out of sinks and bathtubs. Can be used in the toilet with white vinegar, but I find that plain baking soda works just as well.

• Kitchen - Cleans and scrubs baked on pots & pans like a charm. Also easily removes baked on messes from the stove top. Wonderful for cleansing and deep cleaning the counter top. Perfect for cleaning the inside of microwaves (will remove any odors), toaster ovens and regular ovens as well.

• Grout - I have yet to try it on grout, but I would imagine it would do a great job! If you decide to try it, please share your experience in the comments!
